The program provides children and adolescents, who have already begun their music education with the People’s Choir of the Baccarelli Institute, the opportunity to study instruments used in the symphonic orchestra. At first, students take group lessons, and, as their technique and discipline improve, they begin to receive individual classes. The teaching method for the study of instruments has five levels of orchestras: children’s (only strings), preparatory (only strings), children and youth (symphonic formation), youth and symphonic, where students practice in symphonic formation, with instrument, section and full rehearsals, in addition to public presentations, as a way of complementing their music education. During the group instrument lessons, the children can also take part in the Heliópolis Children’s Orchestra, depending on their commitment to their studies and their technical level.
During the transition phase, they go to the Heliópolis Preparatory Orchestra. And when they begin to receive individual lessons, they take part in the Heliópolis Children’s and Youth Orchestra, if they meet the requirements for this activity. Continuing on with their education at the Institute, the young people can take part in the Heliópolis Youth Orchestra and the Heliópolis Symphonic Orchestra. The Baccarelli Institute also has 20 Chamber Groups. The students have access to a collection of instruments that are loaned out for study, in addition to study rooms available for individual practice.
